Today at the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and other leaders joined together to call for urgent action to create jobs and rebuild the economy. In a live webcast panel discussion, the consensus was clear: Without quick action, an entire generation could be mired in economic turmoil. The form that the observance and celebration of Labor Day should take were outlined in the first proposal of the holiday — a street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations" of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their families.

Memorial For All Workers

Help build  Workers Memorial Commons, a tribute to all workers. This central monument features a bronze sculpture supporting a section of I-beam recovered from the World Trade Center attack of 911. The Memorial was designed by University of Alabama students with an emphasis on our responsibility to ensure security and safety in the workplace.
